A passion for wine, food and travel brought Planters Ridge owners John McLarty and Lisa Law together more than a decade ago, and this same passion brought them to Nova Scotia in 2010. They immediately fell in love with the province.
The two started to research the Nova Scotia wine industry and after several trips, spanning from Cape Breton to Bear River, they found the perfect spot - a 7.5 acre farm with a 150 year old house and barn, spectacular views and an abundance of history.
After a successful first harvest, John & Lisa expanded the acres of vines through the purchase of a premium vineyard - Basalt Ridge. The unique wine grape varieties from this new operation would add a level of distinction to the portfolio of wines produced by Planters Ridge.
To this day, Planters Ridge continues to create unique and inspiring red, white and specialty wines, all inspired by the terroir of the Port Williams, Nova Scotia.
